About this tool

Estimate the weight of asbestos-containing material (ACM) waste and the number of disposal bags needed based on the material type and area to be removed. This helps contractors plan disposal logistics, vehicle capacity, and consignment notes before work begins.

How to use

Select the type of asbestos material being removed and enter the area in square metres. The tool uses approximate material densities and thicknesses to estimate the total weight and number of standard 25 kg disposal bags required. Bag counts are rounded up to the nearest whole bag.

Reference

Material density and thickness values are approximate and based on typical ACM products. Actual weights may vary depending on material condition, moisture content, and contamination. All asbestos waste must be double-bagged in labelled asbestos waste bags and disposed of at a licensed hazardous waste facility in accordance with the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
